This 3-day tour from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert takes you to the heart of Merzouga, one of the most iconic and fascinating desert destinations in Morocco. Along the journey, you will explore the High Atlas Mountains, historic kasbahs, lush valleys, and finally experience the magic of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
On the first day, you will depart from Marrakech and cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, stopping at the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah (UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the city of Ouarzazate. You will continue to Boumalne Dades, where you will spend the night surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes.
On the second day, the journey continues towards Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a camel trek at sunset across the Erg Chebbi dunes, followed by an unforgettable night in a Berber desert camp under the stars.
On the third day, you will begin the return journey to Marrakech, traveling through the Ziz Valley and the Cedar Forest of Azrou, arriving back in the Red City in the afternoon or evening.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley / Gorges
Pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech to begin the 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour. Travel through the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass, enjoying panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains and traditional Berber villages.
Continue to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a spectacular fortified village listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, drive to Ouarzazate, where you will visit the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios. Continue to the Dades Valley, where dinner and overnight stay await.
Day 2 – Dades – Tinghir – Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Erfoud – Merzouga (Desert Camp)
After breakfast, continue the journey toward Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara Desert and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Along the way, visit Berber towns such as Tinghir, Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, famous for fossils and oasis landscapes. Upon arrival in Merzouga, enjoy a camel trek across the dunes, stopping to admire and photograph the stunning desert sunset.
Arrive at the desert camp, where you will stay in Berber tents equipped with private bathroom and hot water. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and an unforgettable night with Berber drum music under the starry Sahara sky.
Day 3 – Sunrise in Merzouga – Atlas Mountains – Return to Marrakech
Early risers can enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the desert dunes. After breakfast, return by camel to Merzouga and begin the journey back to Marrakech via Alnif, Tazarine, and N’Kob.
Stop in Ouarzazate for lunch, then continue crossing the High Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening.
