This 4-day tour offers a more relaxed and complete experience between Fez and Marrakech, crossing the majestic Sahara Desert and some of the most impressive landscapes in southern Morocco. It is the perfect option for those who want to enjoy the journey at a leisurely pace, immersing themselves in Berber culture and the magic of the desert.
The tour begins in Fez, crossing the Middle Atlas with stops in Ifrane (the cleanest and most European city in the country) and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to Barbary monkeys. From there, you will continue toward the Ziz Valley until you reach Merzouga, at the gateway to the Sahara. Here, an unforgettable camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes awaits you, along with a magical night in a desert camp under the stars.
In the following days, you will explore the Todra Gorges, the Dades Valley, the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs, and historic sites such as the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour ends with a crossing of the High Atlas through the Tizi n’Tichka pass, arriving in the red city of Marrakech.
A journey rich in contrasts, history, culture, and nature that will allow you to discover the true essence of Morocco.
On the first day of our 4-day Fez to Marrakech tour, we’ll pick you up in the morning from the agreed location and begin our journey toward Merzouga. Our first stop is Ifrane, known as the “Moroccan Switzerland” due to its Alpine-style architecture.
We’ll then visit the cedar forest near Azrou, home to wild monkeys—an excellent spot to stretch your legs and take photos.
From there, we continue to Midelt, located at the foot of Mount Ayachi and famous as the “apple capital”. We will stop here for lunch.
Afterward, we drive through the Tizi-n-Talghamt pass and the scenic Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm groves and vast oases. Along the way, you’ll see numerous ksars (fortified villages with traditional houses). We pass Errachidia and then Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops and date festival.
We finally arrive in Merzouga, where the majestic Sahara dunes await. The rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy the beautiful desert views as the light changes over the dunes. Overnight stay in a hotel or riad in Merzouga.
On the second day, after breakfast, we’ll head to Khamlia, a village inhabited mainly by descendants of Sub-Saharan Africans. There, you’ll enjoy a live performance of traditional Gnawa music.
We’ll continue exploring the desert dunes and stop to enjoy tea with nomadic Berber families, where you may also taste a local meal like Berber pizza, couscous, or harira, and learn more about their lifestyle.
After returning to your accommodation for a short rest, we’ll prepare for a camel trek into the golden dunes. You’ll ride into the Sahara just in time to witness a breathtaking sunset over the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.
We’ll arrive at the desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, listen to live Berber drum music, and stargaze under the vast, starry sky. Overnight in a comfortable Berber tent.
On day three, wake up early to watch a stunning sunrise in the desert—an unforgettable experience. After breakfast, we return by camel to Merzouga and continue our journey by car.
We’ll travel through Rissani and Erfoud, where you can visit a fossil and marble workshop. Then we head to the spectacular Todra Gorges, a favorite spot for hiking and photography due to its dramatic cliffs and canyons.
After lunch, we continue to the Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses (Kelaat Mgouna), passing through the “Road of the Thousand Kasbahs” and the Skoura palm grove.
We’ll arrive in Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel or riad.
On the final day, after breakfast, we’ll visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified village on the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a striking example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture and has been the backdrop for films like Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.
After visiting the kasbah, we’ll stop for lunch before continuing through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass toward Marrakech, where the tour ends.
