    Overview

Discover the magic of southern Morocco on a 5-day journey full of adventure, unique landscapes, and Berber culture. Departing from the imperial city of Fez, this tour will take you through the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert, spectacular valleys, and ancient kasbahs, ending in the city that never sleeps: Marrakech.

The journey begins by crossing the Middle Atlas, with stops in Ifrane and Azrou, until reaching Merzouga, where you’ll enjoy an unforgettable experience in the Erg Chebbi dunes: a camel ride at sunset and a night under the stars in a traditional desert camp.

After the desert, you’ll continue along the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs, exploring fascinating landscapes such as the Dades Valley, the Todra Gorges, and the famous Skoura Oasis. You’ll also visit the legendary Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the setting for many movies and TV shows.

The trip culminates with the crossing of the High Atlas through the Tizi n’Tichka pass, arriving in Marrakech, where the bustling Jemaa el-Fna square and the richness of its medina will welcome you.

    Itinerary

Day 1: Fez – Midelt – Todra Gorges

On the first day of our Southern Morocco Tour, we depart from Fez toward the Todra Gorges, passing through Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco”, and the cedar forests of Azrou, where wild monkeys live—a perfect opportunity to take some unique photos.

We’ll have lunch in the small Berber town of Zaida, then continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, enjoying beautiful views as we pass Midelt and reach the small town of Rich.

From there, the journey continues through the scenic and remote Emilchil region before arriving at the dramatic Todra Gorges, where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Todra Gorges – Merzouga (Desert)

After breakfast, we depart from the Todra Gorges and travel toward Merzouga, with several Berber villages along the way. We’ll pass through Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, the gateway to the Tafilalet oasis.

We then continue to Merzouga, the heart of the Sahara Desert, where your desert adventure begins. Overnight in Merzouga at your chosen accommodation.

Day 3: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomads of Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

On the third day, after breakfast, we set out to explore the Erg Chebbi dunes and surrounding area. We’ll visit a Berber family and enjoy a live performance of Gnawa music, a spiritual and rhythmic tradition originating from Mali and Sudan.

We’ll explore abandoned mines, visit nomadic Berber families, and discover a lush palm oasis in the desert.

After lunch and some rest, we meet our camels and embark on a memorable trek across the golden sand dunes. You’ll witness the magical sunset from the high dunes before arriving at your desert camp, fully equipped with comfortable amenities.

Enjoy a delicious traditional Moroccan dinner, live drum music, and a night under the spectacular starlit sky of the Sahara. We recommend taking time to enjoy the silence and vastness of the desert.

    Day 4: Merzouga – Midelt

Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes—a breathtaking sight. After breakfast, we ride the camels back to Merzouga, then continue our journey by car toward Midelt.

Along the way, we stop at Rissani’s traditional market, where you can shop for local Moroccan products and souvenirs. We continue driving through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains before arriving in Midelt, where we will spend the night.

    Day 5: Midelt – Azrou – Fez

On the final day of our Southern Morocco Tour, after breakfast, we depart from Midelt, passing once again through the cedar forests of Azrou, where we stop to see the wild monkeys.

We continue to Ifrane, known for its charming European-style architecture, and arrive in Fez in the afternoon, marking the end of our unforgettable Moroccan journey.
